Daniel,
Digital editing boards such as Grass Valley 200-2 require the
non-overscan size of 640x480 along with the matching alpha channel to
take hold of it and manipulate it freely. I don't know why, but I know
this is so. It is especially confusing because the Toaster uses full
size to do its DVE's.
On a similar vein as the original question: Is an alpha channel
matte imbedded in a PICT file (in Photoshop) all that is needed for the
alpha channel needed to do the DVE's, or does a separate element, to be
used as a matte, need to be rendered? More specifically: PICT files will
be moved from Photoshop into an AVID to be laid on BetaSP. Will an alpha
channel saved as part of the PICT file be sufficient to produce the matte
(alpha channel)needed on video to be carried to the video switcher?
